The Saltee Tango

There's a lot to be said for the prevalent DIY ethos in Irish music. The chances of getting a record such as 'The Saltee Tango' ever getting a release on anyone else's label aside from Stoat's own are surely pretty slim. That would, however, leave the world a poorer - if slightly less bizarre - place. A mix of South American rhythms, sea shanties and faintly sinister guitars, this is the kind of weird and absolutely wonderful record that could only come out of a thriving independent music scene. Besides, there aren't enough records that mention poop decks.

[Stoat review-of-review: "weird and absolutely wonderful" I like ... the chances of us getting a release on anyone else's label are indeed pretty slim, but I'm docking the reviewer 2 points for reminding us of that sad fact. 8 out of 10]
