Acunamanacana
This is getting slightly ridiculous. One self-titled single is one thing, but after that things really do get a bit too confusing. Soon it's probably going to go the same way as the infinitely head-wrecking two eponymous Tindersticks albums; you send all your friends out to buy 'the Stoat single' and half come back with the 'Oh Happy day' one and the others with the 'Acunamanacana' one.
Still no matter when what lies inside the shiny plastic case and cute birdy picture (anaimal fixation alert?) is as good as this is. Acunamanacana is the reincarnation of the Pixies that we've all been waiting for, with the same howling vocals, cutting riffs and post-punk sensibilities. Rivethead continues in the same vein, all awash with quavering falsettos and rock-out choruses, but is designed more for thoughtful head-nodding than its air guitar inspired predecessor. Hopefully it won't be too much longer to wait for a full length album - just as long as it's not called Stoat!
